Worst Gun Malfunction
Whats the worst to happen to you or someone else in a skirmish?
Thought of this today after seeing our support gunner fire, retreat 10 metres and upon trying to fire again his whole barrel just sort... well flew off the front. Me and another guy just couldnt stop laughing, and consequently got hit.
So, lets have some horror stories, eh?

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
I think this guy was borrowing Rampage's G36c from what I've heard, but this was a while ago at a GZ plan B. And there are these pretty sketchy fences that you have to look out for because they're easy to trip over. Basically the guy was running up and obviously didn't see the wire on the old broken fence, he then tripped forward. The G36 landed on a log and then he landed ontop of that, which meant that (from what I saw) the following broke:
The foregrip, the C rail/carry handle, I think the stock may have broken not entirely sure and I heard the battery went as well. But yeah maybe Rampage could tell us more (if I did hear right, that it was his gun). Feel sorry for the guy that fell though, it really wasn't his fault because those broken fences are effective trip wires.
edit: Although I guess this isn't a gun malfunction, more of a gun breakage hehe

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
my beloved M14 dies at a weekender in Sennybridge, motor had burnt out. Had it repaired and got her out again at a weekender at catterick. 1 mag in there was a sound similar to a goose in a mangle, and the sector gear was stripped due to motor not being fitted correctly.
Nothing compaired to my mate at Catterick last weekend, tripped over a rock in the dark, fell forward onto his PTW, and snapped it in half.
Messed his knee up too.......

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
well... at the weekender my AK-47S was performing brilliantly on the short friday game.
on the saturday it was raining very slightly. myself and rockdelta were kitting up ready for the game, me in my insurgent loadout. I went inside the tent for no more than 30secs to find the RPG shell and a 7.62 belt to complete my look, came out to find the AK-47 BILLOWING smoke from every whole.
I ran out then threw it off of the (probably flammable) chair and onto the grass. ripped off the top battery cover which was extremely hot, and then burnt my fingers trying to rip the battery out. the wires were melting and flaming like a fuse towards the battery.. and I believe that fire + batteries often ends in an explosion of sorts.
I was pretty lucky not to have seriously burnt my hand. I guess what had happened is the light rain had got inside and shorted it or something through a small tear in the wires. This is why we always keep the fuse in the gun! haha
The wiring was absolutely fubar. luckily I got to it in time and Z1 only charged me £15 for new wires!

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
a hire gun at combat south just had a new lipo in it, it was running out of power but the guy was still firing full auto with it!
The stock started to smoke, i told him to through it to the ground, and the gun caught fire! the smell of burning plastic was horrid!

firing off an m249 (real steal) with blanks after being bumped, my opo has stashed the gear from our lup (laying up point) into my bergan and left it just behind me, so i grab the weapon by the carry handle grab my bergan strap with the other hand and fall back about 150m through the woods, turn to supress the enemy only to find i am the proud owner of a shiny new cary handle..... and nothing else.
and an airsoft one
seen someone shove a bb in the barrel on a modified blank fiere grab a crono and shout watch this, one breech explosion later i cried with laghter (bootnecks )

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
Well, I have just been informed that some Year 9 kids decided to play around with the revolver I lent a friend for a 6th form play (he's over 18 and a skirmisher with UKARA too).
Anyway, here's how it came back:
Needless to say I have arranged a meeting with said poor examples of humanity and shall be expecting them to pay.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
Keeper, get the thumb screws out.
My AK had its stock snapped off at a skirmish when a mate borrowed it. Wasn't impressed as he denied all knowledge of the damage. Had another of my AEG's when i saw him later.
Atually broke the metal plates that hold the stock into place, not the lovely wood kit that was on it, so a new body is on the way.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
TKOS, that's painful.
Thankfully, I've never had a gun badly malfunction on me mid-skirmish. The worst I've had would probably be when I had an M-14 and was firing on single. A guy popped over a ledge and I fired one shot, next pull of the trigger all I got was a 'click'. Needless to say, he lit me up. I switched to full auto afterwards and it was all fine again.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
Wow, some real horror stories here, mostly involving 'loaners', I gave up loaning most of my guns when I stopped buying cheap chinese ones. Now if someone wants to borrow a gun, they get my 'loaner' AUG and my 'loaner' hi-capa, and that's on the assumption that if it breaks in ANY way they buy it.
The worst I've ever had has been a stripped piston.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
Following someone through a window at UA. He had a M16 slung over his back. Before I could say anything, he launched himself through the window. Unfortunately the window frame wasn't as wide as his almost horizontal M16. Snap, cracked the plastic body in half and ripped the flash hider off. No idea what else he might have damaged.

I've heard rumours about this too. I don't understand how it happens though. Unless the middle inner frame AND the plastic exterior break when the rear part of the slide hits the chunky top part beneath the hop up on the front part of the slide, then I have no idea how it'd happen O.o

Re: cock ups u just dont need
just recieved my newly bought element inner barrel and h-nub, and my gun is shooting as if it had a stroke. seriously un-impressed. it seems like the fps has lowered alot and the hop effect is non-existant, it also seems as if it is louder than before too. not what i needed at this time in my life.

This is going to be a grim thread.. hah
Mine is a severe sling smeg up, the clip gave way, sending my beloved MP5 on a skydiving lesson. It hit the deck and broke it's neck
That sling (Viper) has now been burned.

Re: cock ups u just dont need
Well there was this one day where me and my team (3 others) came to a bit of a stream crossing. So first three got across fine leaving me behind with my gun and a brand new L96 that didn't belong to me. Couldn't quite get it accross the stream so one team mate climbed up a tree sticking out across the river whilst i leant the gun across. However, the tree snapped in half with my team mate on it with his MP5 slung on his chest. So both the MP5 and the L96 were completly submerged in the stream with my team mate on top. That would be the end, but that said tree came down and gave me a blow to the head, knocking me off my feet. All the guns worked fine after though, just one very wet team mate, one very pissed off team mate, one team mate laughing very hard and one team mate with a nice big lump on his head

Playing at EAG dorking with Sonic one rainy cold day, only to realize my glock had decided to vacate my drop leg holster
Spent an hour retracing my steps only to tread in a puddle, to see under my toes, a pistol grip, the thing had been submerged for an hour!
Tom at EAG soaked it in silicone and told me to leave it for a few days then really clean it, worked fine afterwards, no problems at all

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
my worst ever day playing was
one lovely summer day about 2 years ago, we loaded up the car my mate Gadge and i headed to our local site for an open day, something he normaly would never do at this point as he hated open days and sticks in with his WW2 games.
but he had not be out for ages with me so had agreed helped i was paying obviously lol.
we got to site me with my new star m249 and my old JG aug(first ever gun), him with his trusted star l85 and his custom shoot and scoot enfiled. that was about the best part of the day
5 min into the first game the enfiled has rbroke 2 mags (followers snapped of) and now is no longer shooting at all, it just wont chamber a BB,and is making strange noises even the bolt is running off true. this angers gadge loads as he has not long had it back from warren and its fuber again (for the money there unreliable but look lovely)its since spent more time been fixed than been played and problems persist to this day.
10 min later while gadge is in the safe zone trying to work out whats up with his enfiled
my 249 goes off on one, stops working and i later discover the switch has died and melted half the wire back to the battery and killed the plugs they litteraly melted together( bad times and a reason to never buy a star m249) the m249 is dead and was never resurected the gearbox was cooked and died
you would think that would be an end to it all but sadly no, at this point we decide to make the best of a bad day grab the aeg's and head for battle.
30min later
were back in the safe zone and the l85 is making a random twanging noise when its fired and bb's could be flicked further by hand.
by this point gadge is all but giving up as he is that pissed, we head down to the shop and strip the 249 and l85, 249 is dead no way back
the l85 had been profesionaly down graded when it was bought from new and at this point we find all they have done is cut off part of the spring, as a result it has screwed the spring guide slowly up its length. the london based shop had charged a small fortune to down grade the gun and this point gadge's mood is finally broken. he arranges a lift home he managed a total of about 2hrs play in the day.
i at this point resort my my JG Aug and all is right with the world for me at least
out of 4 guns the only one to work was the cheap soft JG the other £1000 worth of guns were all rubbish hence i no longer buy high end branded gear, that day changed my airsoft buying habits forever. i did try loads of other guns after but never found anything as reliable other than my old JG aug(hence i now own just augs lol)
i would have a star L85 or the better ares version but that's about the only other gun i would own now. it truely was the worst day ever.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
I had my worst one last night and it hurt!!. As a few people on here know I have been having issues with my tanaka browing hi power. Anyway I finally got it to shoot last night, albeit a measley 3 bbs before it packed in again. anyway I refilled the gas to give it another go, aimed the pistol at the target, then wham it vented the whole mag of gas straight into my face and eyes. Now that effing hurt I can tell you. The gun will be going back to an armoury with airsoft in its name this weekend and I am demanding a full refund as it is heap um pile poo.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
One of MIA got a bit of a sad on with me one game...
My battery ran out on my CA M15. I did the standard thing...Took the front off the PEQ box, took out dead battery, insert new one. Only problem was, despite no action the the trigger, my gun decided to fire. Not a problem normally, but the mag was on. And was full. And the barrel was about 15cm from the knee of somebody from MIA. And the safety was off...
He wasnt best pleased, and had to hobble about for an hour or two.
Also, saw a box mag just burst into flames. Was quite amusing, but not the the guy whos M240 was attached to it. The battery short circuited or something and just nearly exploded.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
think the worst thats happened too me was when i first started out had a glock 17 gbb and the hop wasnt right but at the time didnt know how too sort it so as i was shooting they were dropping so i turned the pistol upside down and pulled the trigger just too have the gas explode in my face.
it can be seen on a youtube video by scoutthedoggie if you want a laugh.

Re: Worst Gun Malfunction
Bought a VFC HK416 off fire support and it turned up with rust on the RIS so i sent it back they didnt have any others left so i got a refund and CA XM177 when they where first released hooked the battery up pulled the trigger in my first skirmish with it, Flames came out of the gun by the delta ring and the Plastic grip melted. Good times!
