Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
Because people couldn't post without guidance :P
It prevents trouble for
A: Seller
B: Forum - Less 'anyone got contact for ******' posts.
C: Mods.
Also helps the buyer, as you provide the information needed.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
It is supposed to cut down the number of n00bs I'd guess.
But really, it's not difficult to post 10 things in a week - so I think it's a bit pointless myself!

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
Because the forum is experiencing a high volume of new users trying to sell RIF's either illegally or being con artists and taking money but no gun. Generally they make an account after viewing the classifieds wanted section then offer an item for paypal, then disappear with the persons money, one thing in common (mostly anyway) is that the post count is generally low as it is their first post or a very low count, also makes sure users are genuinely interested in the best interests of the sport as new users who are just spamming to get the count up can be reset to zero, warned and banned accordingly.
This system has been in use on many other forums and proven very successful, Congratulations Zeroin for finally following suit and helping protect the honest people.

On arnies you used to have to post 150 times just to get access to the classifields, so why the hell does 10 make much of a difference?

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
I do see the thinking behind it the 10 posts - 7 days.
But it also means that loads of people that come on here and just read/ research bout airsoft and their guns are going to have to start finding thing to randomly post on just so they can use the forum fully.
I guess there's going to be pros and cons no matter how its done.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
If it's to protect the forum from bogus buyers especially where guns are concerned then why not do this. You have to PM an admin and supply them with personal details land phone numbers etc before you get access to the classifieds section and can list or buy anything. And if you want to Buy or list a RIF or an IF you also have to provide your UKARA or other such proof.
Works on other forums.
P.S Minimum post's is a great idea but 50 or more I think is more sensible...

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
i agree with skimore, i come on here nearly every day .i read some threads and see what the going price for some second hand guns is. i hardly ever post as i only have 20 something and ive been a member for ages. But if i saw something in classified it would be really annoying to not be able to post. I agree the system does help against Noobs but also affects the person with genuine interest and with innocent intentions.

not really as you can still PM which should be done in purchasing circumstances anyway

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
Ditto.
I see the reasoning behind it, but if you pay with credit card or paypal you are covered by their insurance and can claim off them if they can't prove you recieve / they sent the goods.
Guess it's just another safeguard though, and better for all round.
It does mean I've still got another 4/5 post before I can offer my goods for sale though, adding to congestion on the forum.

Not entirely true though mate. If the con artist withdraws the funds from paypal or spends it then it's gone. And paypal can't/won't recover it. So which ever way you buy it's useless. Your not covered, so always be prapared to take legal action. If you don't want the hassle of doing that then don't sell anything. It's as simple as that

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
This does make me laugh, so many people moaned and said Lets clamp down the right to use classified, make it so it not an automatic access.
Now its done, people aren't happy about the fact they may have to make 10 posts?

Same with any site I suppose,it's to stop people from using the site to just sell their s**t without actually wanting to contribute towards the community.

I have set the limit for now to 10, I will monitor the situation and if the number needs to go up or the time limit extended I will make the change.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
Its a good idea, other forums run a 100 post limit before it even allows you to see the for sales thread, so you never know what you are missing anyway, I can see it will be frustrating, but would you rather be slightly frustrated, or 150 quid out of pocket? Id rather be frustrated myself.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
I have set the limit to 10, so 10 is what the limit is, saying it should be more will make no difference, until I see a need to increase it 10 is what it shall stay.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
i tend to agree with the forum policy here, this will cut down noobs and rogues and also might actually spur some of us (me included) back into making a contribution to forums rather than just reading them.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
I definitely think it is a good idea, 2 other forums i frequent have a min 100 post before you are allowed to sell in the classified.
This is as above,
-To stop spamming
-Protect buyers
-Prevent people using the site as a bring and buy sale
I would be in favour of upping it to 50 or 100 posts.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
I would agree with that. It also helps against those who will spam post to get to the classifieds; whilst 10 posts isn't much to do, having to make 50 or 100 spam posts should deter most people.

sorry may sound like stupid question but does this go for all sales or just for the gun sales and o think it is a good idea to have min post to sell stuff.

I think it should be for all sales tbh. If you mean because of the high value of guns, it wouldn't take much to sell a full Ricas with pouches etc for £150.

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
I have used Zeroin for buying a selling many guns, but dont really post on any other sections of the site. Does this now mean i have to post in numerous posts in order to "post reply" and "start new thread" in the sales area? I now find my post count reset to less than 10 for some reason (when i know i have sent closer to 70 or 80), perhaps since i have not used the site since before xmas. I have never backed out of a deal or failed to complete on one but now my post count may seem to be particularly low, and people may distrust me. Were the stats reset at some point over the last few months, during aserver change or update?

Re: Any reason for the Classified rules?
Its not hard to make 10 posts tho is it?? Also why would anyone want to discourage new members?? Just remember you were all "noobs" once. I do agree that folks shouldnt just be able to sell stuff from the word go. And putting a 10 post limit wont stop people being ripped off.

Yes, he will still receive the PM mate.
One thing im thinking, its a good rule, but with a bad point aswell, there will be a lot more spam of people trying to get to 10 posts.

quite true, it is not hard to make 10 genuine/useful post in 7 days.... anything deemed as a unhelpful/non productive/pointless post will be removed
